Recruit Claims Notre Dame Pulled Scholarship Offer 5 Days After He Committed
More tough recruiting news for Notre Dame:
The tweet above is from TJ Sheffield, the 38th ranked class of 2019 WR from Tennessee:
5 days ago, on July 6th, Sheffield committed to Notre Dame.
According to his account, 5 days after his commitment, Notre Dame let him know that they are not going to honor his commitment. On top of that, the assistant coach, who talked to his parents the day of his commitment, should’ve told him that on July 6th (the day of his commitment). They let Sheffield celebrate and make public his commitment, which apparently meant nothing to Notre Dame.
This is not the greatest look for the Irish. We are only hearing one side of the story here, but this is a massive no-no in the world of recruiting. The only time it’s seen as okay to not honor a kids commitment is if there is a coaching change. No such thing happened at Notre Dame.
This news comes a week after Notre Dame was exposed for a weird negative recruiting tactic against Michigan:
That recruit ended up deciding to risk it all and committing to Michigan, that school WAY too close to Detroit!
