5-Star QB Justin Fields Announces Intent To Transfer From Georgia
Big news in the college football world. Justin Fields came into Georgia as the #1 recruit from the class of 2018 and will leave as the second straight 5-star QB to transfer from Georgia under Kirby Smart.
You can’t blame Kirby for Jacob Eason and now Justin Fields for transferring. When you have a phenomenal QB like Jake Fromm it’s going to be hard to keep everyone happy. Smart tried to get Fields involved as much as he could throughout the season, but it never really worked.
SOURCE-The source said that Fields and his father have had multiple meetings with Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart about his future over the past few weeks, and that Fields hasn’t formally requested a transfer, nor has he been placed in the NCAA’s transfer portal, which notifies other schools that he’s interested in leaving.
Sources told ESPN that Fields might consider Florida State, Ohio State and Oklahoma if he decides to leave.
Any of those three teams would be incredibly happy to welcome Justin Fields to town. The dual-threat QB was regarded as one of the top prospects in the past decade. The question will be if he will be eligible to play in the 2019 season. That’s something we’ll keep an eye on if Fields does decide to go through with the transfer.
It’s a shame, but his most memorable moment at Georgia was most likely this:
At least we’ll always have Kirby’s reaction to Fields throwing a TD in a high school game:
