Patriots-Jets on Monday Night Football Plus Hockey Action

What a weird Sunday in the NFL. I lost three games by a combined two points yesterday. Absolutely brutal. I still don’t know what the fuck happened in the Chargers-Titans game. Either way, that was yesterday and today is all that matters. We have Monday Night Football, and NHL action as we prepare for the World Series and the NBA regular season to begin tomorrow. Let’s get into it.

WINNERS:

Pittsburgh Steelers v New England Patriots

New England Patriots (-9.5) at New York Jets

There are way too many people on the Jets tonight. I know Sam Darnold is back and he had a nice game against the Cowboys, but there are other factors to consider here. First, he’s Sam Darnold, not Tom Brady. Second, the Patriots are still the healthier team of the two, as the Jets have FIVE offensive lineman injured. Third, the Patriots have the rest advantage, having not played since last Thursday night. Fourth, this is Pats-Jets, it generally follows the script. When these teams played earlier in the year in Foxboro, the spread was 21, now it’s 9.5. Darnold is worth almost 12 points to the spread? I don’t think so. Give me the best team in football.

THE PICK: New England -9.5

Tampa Bay Lightning v Toronto Maple Leafs

Columbus Blue Jackets at Toronto Maple Leafs (-200)

The Leafs are a dynamic team with an incredible offense and when they are rested and home, look out. That is the scenario we have tonight and I find it almost impossible to bet against them here. Columbus is still struggling to find an identity, and Toronto is not the team to help them with that.

THE PICK: Toronto -1.5 (+135)

Dallas Stars v Toronto Maple Leafs

Ottawa Senators at Dallas Stars (-223)

This is a matchup of two teams with a combined three wins. Not great. That doesn’t mean we can’t find action here though. This total feels low to me with the Stars likely giving Ben Bishop the night off. With Anton Khoudobin in net for Dallas, I think Ottawa can find the back of the net a few times. Because they’re playing Ottawa, Dallas should score as well. Give me the over.

THE PICK: Over 5.5

Alright, let’s get these tickets cashed, baby!
