BlackJack's Baseball Best Bet of the Day
We went 2-1 yesterday, and would have gotten the illustrious perfect day if I would have gone with my first instinct and taken the Astros first five, but alas, I didn't. I'll take 2-1, but we must always strive for more. We must never be complacent or satisfied. We must always be hungry. Having said that, there is only one game on the board I like today. I tried to find more, but they simply aren't there and I'm not going to force the issue in week one of a new and strange season. So let's take a look at tonight's nightcap and dig into it.
New York Mets (-115) at Boston Red Sox (O/U 11.5)
We've got a matchup tonight of two teams that won their season openers and proceeded to lose the next two in disappointing fashion to division rivals. Now tonight, they collide and look to straighten the ship on this young and tenuous season. The Mets send Michael Wacha to the mound to make his Mets debut, while the Red Sox counter with what will likely be a bullpen game started by Josh Osich. This should give the Mets a clear advantage, at least in my view as I think Wacha still has something left in the tank. Additionally I think the Mets lineup is deeper and better than the one Boston is throwing out right now. The fact that the Mets did very little damage against Atlanta offensively, makes me think they are primed to break out. If they are to remain relevant it has to happen sooner or later and on a hot night in Boston against a cobbled together pitching lineup, the stars may well align for the Metropolitans.
THE PICK: Mets ML (-115)
