BlackJack's Wednesday Gambling Guide
We had a nice little 4-2 day yesterday, not too bad, not too shabby. Today we're back at it again, because that's what we do. We get up every morning, go over the lines, find the good ones and pounce. Today I've got fewer plays, but that's ok, don't force it. Let the winners come to you. Still focusing mostly on the NHL and the NBA as baseball is a little strange right now for me. Let's hop into the bubbles.
New York Islanders (-120, O/U5) vs. Florida Panthers
I think there are two schools of thought here. One is that the Panthers, with their backs against the wall, are desperate. The other is that they are mentally checked out. That's the camp I find myself in for this game. They are in a bubble in Toronto, isolated, and have likely already though about going home tomorrow. The Islanders are playing very hard right now and I think they finish business today.
THE PICK: New York Islanders ML (-120)
Denver Nuggets (-3, O/U 224.5) vs. San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs have looked good so far in the NBA restart. They won their first two games before falling to Shake Milton and Philly late in their last effort. The Nuggets on the other hand have been banged up from the jump. I still like them here. They have relied on different guys every night. Michael Porter, Jr. has looked great, Bol Bol has looked really solid. They have been diversified. I appreciate the urgency San Antonio is playing with, but Denver is simply the better team and this is a small number.
THE PICK: Denver -3
Colorado Avalanche (-130, O/U 5.5) vs. Dallas Stars
The Avalanche are one of the most impressive teams offensively in the NHL this season. They are fast. They can score at any moment and they have very solid depth. I generally like these teams over slower defensive oriented teams like Dallas. Look at the Vegas game the other night. Dallas got the jump on Vegas, but the Knights offense fired back and put them in a hole they couldn't escape from. Colorado can do the same thing.
THE PICK: Colorado ML (-130)
Pittsburgh Penguins (-175, O/U 5.5) vs. Montreal Canadiens
I'm sticking with the Pens here. The Canadiens have played hard, but ultimately they are over matched here, except for in net, and Carey Price doesn't appear to be having one of those one man series. Also the Habs may well be better off losing here and trying for the first overall pick in the draft, since that is still up for grabs in this insane season. I'll lay the juice with the Pens tonight.
THE PICK: Pittsburgh ML (-175)
