Let's Bet The WNBA Semifinals... Picks for the Weekend's Game
Well, even though I missed on both games on Thursday night, it was interesting basketball. The big surprise is that the Connecticut Sun took it AGAIN to the favored Las Vegas Aces, this time behind Alyssa Thomas who was not supposed to play. As in, WAS RULED OUT earlier in the day because of her shoulder injury. No way I bet the Aces if I knew Alyssa would play, and of course she went out and scored a double double in the Sun’s 77-68 victory, giving them a 2-1 lead in the series. The second game saw the Lynx struggle early against the Storm before a 20-4 run in the 3rd put them right back in the game. Seattle slowly choked them out over the course of the 4th on the way to an 89-79 win.
Sunday’s games kick off at 1:00 on ESPN with Vegas fighting for their life against the resurgent Sun. The Aces are again a -4.5 (o158.5) favorite, as they’ve been all series. Alyssa is clearly going to play once again on that bum shoulder; and because of that the Sun will be as hard as a coffin nail to beat. The Sun are 4-1 ATS in their past 5, but this game comes down to whether Las Vegas can rise to the occasion or not. They’ve been outhustled, out rebounded, and out shot from the beginning, even in the game they managed to win.
THE PICK: Sun +4.5
The Lynx are fighting for their life. Seattle stole Game One but beat them pretty comprehensively in Game Two to put them up against the wall. Seattle is an -8 point favorite (o164) and with Fowles still questionable for the game on Sunday, it’s hard to bet against them. Minnesota is 1-5 ATS in their last six. With a healthy Fowles, it’s a different story. Without her, I think it’s more of the same.
THE PICK: Seattle -8
With elimination on the line in both series, these games should be fantastic. I’m looking to sweep the board after a bad night on Thursday, so let’s go out and let these ladies make some money for us!
