Your WNBA Seattle Storm v Las Vegas Aces Gambling Preview

The fifth and deciding game between Connecticut and Las Vegas on Tuesday night was a bizarre and fascinating game. The Sun took a six-point lead in a relatively high scoring half (45-39) and then proceeded to score exactly eighteen points (nine in each quarter) in the second half. UNBELIEVABLE. And the truly bizarre thing is they still almost won the game. The final was 66-63 Las Vegas which means that Connecticut literally booted away a golden chance at a huge upset. Of course, Vegas missed like 20 shots in the final two minutes as well, meaning that of course, they fucked the spread which was -3.5.Unbelievably bad beat. 

Las Vegas moves on to play the well-rested Seattle Storm, having beaten them both times they played this year. Ah, but there’s a catch -- Sue Bird did not play in either game, and Breanna Stewart missed one of them as well. Both are probably as healthy as they’ve been all year.

This series pits the two best teams in the Wubble on very different trajectories. Seattle is playing as well as they have all year, while Vegas did not play well against Connecticut in any of the five games, and truthfully were very lucky to have made the finals. 

Seattle opens as a healthy favorite (-4.5, o164.5) and for a good reason: they can score. They are 20-4 and 9-1 in their last ten, which means they’re peaking at the right time. Vegas lost two-time reigning 6th Woman of the Year Dearica Hamby, maybe for the remainder of the series, and this is a team that cannot afford to lose someone averaging 13 and 7 off the bench. Seattle loses backup guard Sami Whitcomb (8.1 and 2.3) as she returned to Australia for the birth of her wife’s first child.
