What We Learned During Week 5 And A Shoutout To A New Friend
One of the true keys to doing well gambling or just be an astute mind such as myself is very simple. Simply watching and observing. Sitting down and watching these games. It's very basic I know, but missing the little things can be the difference between wining and losing.
It was another wild week in the NFL...
Happy Trails to newly unemployed Dan Quinn. One of the worst coaches in recent memory. The lowly and pathetic Falcons lost to Carolina today and dropped to 0-5. Since blowing a lead in the 28-3 game in the Super Bowl, the Falcons were 14-23 under Quinn. We will miss the big leads you and your team blew, the awful defenses and the plodding inability to cover. Frankly i'll miss that a lot. There weren't many coaches worse than Quinn ATS. He finished 37-48 against the number and was just 18-34 when his team was laying points. Bettors will miss fading you, Dan. No one blew leads quite like you did.
The Browns might finally be good. 4 in a row for CLEVELAND! In those games, they are averaging 37.5 points per game. Over the years they've been a laughingstock and to be honest most of the time they lose today's game against Indy. They were flat in the second half. But they made less mistakes and seemingly made plays when they needed to and escaped with a win. They continue to create turnovers, including a pick 6 today. They lead the league in takeaways with 10. You need breaks especially during a year of uncertainty. Two big AFC North games await against the Steelers and the Bengals. Keep in mind they've covered 3 in a row.
The 49ers might not make the playoffs…. I'm not kidding. They got walloped today by the Dolphins. Now there's always a chance to lose a game in the NFL but to lose by 24 and give up 43? Yikes! Keep in mind also they benched 138 million dollar man Jimmy G and are now 2-3. Looking at their next 7 games makes you wanna throw up if you're a Niner fan. They have to play the Rams, Patriots, Seahawks, Packers, Saints, Rams again and Bills. Those teams have a combined record of 19-5. Absolutely brutal. I guess the saving grace is they will continue to get healthy, but Jimmy's confidence has to be waning and this defense has looked terrible. They've given up 68 points over the last 2 games.
I'm an Eagles fan, many know that, but I was sad to see what happened to Cowboys QB Dak Prescott. You never want to see that happen to a competitor like him. He's a genuinely good guy and great player. We obviously don't know exactly but its probably safe to think we won't see him again for awhile. It's Andy Dalton's team. They were able to squeeze out a win against the lowly Giants but going forward- what can we expect from Dalton? He's one of the better backups in the league with valuable game experience and started many games for years. He's actually always been a pretty good regular season QB. It is hard to not understate how truly bad this Dallas defense has been though. Through 5 games, they have allowed 36.5 points per game. The run defense sucks, the pass defense sucks and they can't keep teams out of the end zone. This pass defense has given up FIFTEEN plays of 20 yards or more. Woeful. They could always fall back on a good offense… going forward who knows what that side of the ball looks like.
In final, shout out to my new friend and coworker Glenny Balls. Glenny hit a big 10k bet from Dave on the OAK/KC OVER 54.5. He had to work for it a bit in the second half but it came in rather easily. Glen and I had our issues back in the day, but we was very gracious to me when I saw him at the gambling house a few weeks back. Glenny is what I think we all wish we could be, a living version of a Jimmy Buffet song. No care in the world, in his own little world. Full of joy and a good heart. Shout out to him. Enjoy the money bro!
