BMOC Serie A Soccer Selections For The Weekend
Off a solid 2-1 +1.42u week last weekend. Sassuolo did us justice with yet another magical comeback on Friday. Through 3 weeks posting Serie A, I'm 7-3 +4.54u. I did throw out a winner Monday as well on Twitter from Serie A, but I will not include that in this record. Let's get into it.
Crotone v Atalanta: Right now, it really doesn't matter what defensive pairings Atalanta put out nothing seems to be working. They were running ragged last week by Sampdoria and then gave up two to Ajax in Champions League. Now, they travel to the South and face a bottom side off a solid offensive performance of their own. Atalanta will score 3 here, it's what they do. Also, with so much going forward and the depth to bring on reinforcements, I like my chances. I want no part of them in a winners market though considering they've allowed 12 goals already this year. The good thing for Atalanta is, Crotone have allowed 15, the most in the league. I also think back to last year and remember how ruthless the boys from Bergamo were against bottom 3 sides. In the six games they played against those sides they scored 3 or more in 5 of them scoring 6 and 7 in two of them. PICK: Atalanta TT OVER 2.5 (+108)
Bologna v Cagliari: I played Cagliari and got a winner last week now they head to take on Bologna who have been no stranger to me in my selections. As I've said since I've started this, Bologna suck defensively. They have now conceded a goal in 38 straight Serie A matches which dates back over 13 months. Both sides for that matter have been wretched defensively both conceding over two a game this season. Cagliari actually leads the league in shots seen per game. They allow 19 a game which is two more than any other side. Both are also attacking sides that will push forward and have solid options to score. As I said last week I really like what I've seen from Giovanni Simeone and Joao Pedro and Cagliari. PICK: Both teams score a goal and OVER 2.5 (-125)
Napoli v Sassuolo: Where to begin with this one? Let's start with another elephant in the room. Sassuolo continues to come back in matches against bad sides, but again the reason for that is partly that they are horrible defensively. Napoli continues to score a ton too and have to be licking their chops at home here. Both of these sides are 1/2 in the league in shots per game. They are both freight trains going forward scoring 14 and 16 collectively. Napoli at home this year have 10 goals in two games…pretty incredible. Goals are on the card here. I will also leave you with the last match these two played in late July. I was on both teams to score that day and Sassuolo had FOUR goals not count because of offside, it was wild. I expect a 3-1/3-2 match here. PICK: OVER 3.5 goals (-105)
