Week 10 NCAAF Betting Deep Dive Of The Best Play On The Board
Back with another Saturday deep dive. Had a winner last week with Arkansas +14 which came through. Since starting these Deep Dives each week I am 5-1-1. Let's get after it…
Currently at Barstool Sportsbook, Oregon State are a 3 point favorite and the total is 63.5.
Yes, I am going to a game featuring two teams that haven't played yet. But in my research there is a lot to like about one team.
Washington State enters the season with renewed excitement. Mike Leach is gone and Nick Rolovich enters. Rolovich will run the Run And Shoot offense something he perfected at Hawaii. First off, they have the new quarterback to run it. Jayden De Laura is the new man there and the famed St Louis High School in Honolulu recruit is the perfect guy to be it. He won 2 state titles in Hawaii. In high school, he ran this exact offense and should be poised behind a great offensive line and plenty of weapons. Keep an eye on RB Max Borghi who will be more featured this year in a more balanced offense and the receivers are fast and strong to get separation. Renard Bell and Calvin Jackson are really good in that core and will be important parts speed wise if you know anything about the Run And Shoot.
Defensively there is reason for optimism as well. They will run a 4-3 under new DC Jake Dickert, who comes over from Wyoming. They have one of the better linebacker units in the PAC-12 which will help. Jahad Woods is a tackling machine and the defensive line is fierce. Keep an eye on Willie Taylor at DE who figures to have a bounceback after a down 2019. The secondary will be better as well. Last year, the offensive game plan made it tough on the defense and I expect a more concerted effort from them this year. All in all I'm pretty high on the Cougs. A lot of people expect a down season but I liked Rolovich at Hawaii and I think the talent on this team is there.
In this game, I expect him to move the ball against a Oregon State defense that gave up 35 points a game last year and I'm not sure in looking at what's coming back they will get any better. On offense, Oregon State has a new quarterback also in Tristen Gebbia. They will surely miss the calming presence of Jake Luton at signal caller. He will have to throw to a mostly new WR group which won't help this transition. Washington State will definitely have it's hands full with RB Jermar Jefferson. Jefferson is really good and could turn into one of the better players in the conference. I trust the DL and LB group to handle him.
Keep in mind last year at Hawaii, Rolovich and the Run and Shoot destroyed Oregon State. They allowed Hawaii QB Cole McDonald to throw for 421 yards and 4 touchdowns in a win for the Bows. This Cougar offense should be able to move as well.
I expect Wazzou to also win the battle in the trenches, I think not only do they have the best OL in the conference but are one of the best in the country. I'm taking Washington State +3 here.
