BMOC Betting Deep Dive Of The Best MAC Play On The Board
I mean if you aren't tailing me on these deep dives, not really sure what to tell you. Since I brought them to Barstool, I'm 6-1-1 fresh off an easy winner Saturday as Washington State won by 10 as 3 point dogs.
We have football every night this week and we get started tonight with MACtion. Let's jump into it.
Currently at Barstool Sportsbook, Ohio is a 27 point favorite and the total is 59.5.
Ohio is fresh off a last second loss to Central Michigan. It was weird game for the Bobcats. They moved the ball with ease in the first half scoring 20 at the break. They then had a KO return for a TD and didn't score the rest of the game. Turnovers in bad spots and missed field goals hurt, but there was a lot to like about the offense. New QB Kurtis Rourke was efficient and he looked really good in the pocket, and UNLV transfer QB Armani Rodgers gave them a really good change of pace dual threat. The big takeaway was some of the talent they have at WR. Coach Frank Solich has always been very adept at finding big time skill position players. Isiah Cox is a stud to keep your eye on. One concern that I saw as I rewatched the game was special teams. The kicker missed every field goal and their punter only averaged about 36 yards a punt. All in all though I'm quite bullish on this Ohio offense. Rourke can wing it and I like the change of pace with Rodgers as well the plethora of weapons.
Defensively last week, Ohio struggled at times but for the most part settled in defensively. They only allowed 5.93 yards an attempt and 56% completion percentage. Given their opponent this week, you have to figure a step up is in order and they should settle in nicely.
Akron is off a winless season last year and was destroyed last week 58-13 by Western Michigan. They allowed nearly 500 yards, 5.6 yards per carry and 2 plays of 65 or more in the passing game that both went for back to back TD's. The worst number came on yards per play allowing 8.2 to the WMU offense. That's dead last in the country. Akron offensively was awful as well. They only had 126 passing yards and were 4-15 on third down.
Last season Akron was 1-11 against the number. They lost 7 of their 8 MAC games by 21 or more and 4 of the 8 by 28 or more. They were destroyed against Ohio. In that game they lost 52-3 and managed just 74 TOTAL YARDS and just 7 first downs.. 603-74 yardage wise is quite the box score. Akron is the same team they were last year. Is Ohio going to win 52-3 and allow 74 yards here... No... but this screams 48-10 to me. I definitely missed out on 25, which was the best number but I'm still getting a favorable price here with the Bobcats. Ill back Ohio -27 with my deep dive MACtion play of the day and hopefully add to a great deep dive record.
