ALERT: Bryce Harper Has A Surprisingly OK Shot At NL MVP AND Zack Wheeler At NL Cy Young

Such was the topic of conversation on this week's First Time, Long Time (along with Ben Simmons allegedly being a giant walking, talking, anti-shooting cock and Deshaun Watson to the Eagles). But let's start with Bryce Harper who is currently a lovely +1800 to win the NL MVP on the Barstool Sportsbook - CLICK HERE TO JOIN

Interesting. For those of you actually paying attention, Bryce Harper has been good this year. Like, real good. On the surface to some Connie Mack deadball teabaggers, it might be tough to see just how good. He's hitting .305 with 18 dingers with a meh 42 RBI's. Why so little ribbi's? Well, if you turn on hack Philly sports radio, you'll hear some happy horseshit about how Bryce is not clutch and only hits solo HR's and blah blah blah. When in reality you take a look at the stat that he's 83rd in the league in coming to the plate with RISP. 83rd!!! Odubel Herrara has had more opportunities with ducks on the pond than Bryce Harper this season. Maybe it's his fault for nobody getting on base in front of him, I don't know. But here's some other stats for Harper: OBP .417 and OPS .979. Solid, for sure, but realize in the past few weeks Harper has been on an absolute TEAR with a OBP over .600 and a OPS well over 1.000. Bryce is putting out the kind of production that would make 2001 Moneyball Billy Beane die via ejaculation. The dude is getting hot at the right time for a run. I'm not saying it's a lock by any means, but if Bryce keeps up this sort of effort and the Phillies take down the NL East then +1800 is EXCELLENT value. Especially with Tatis having shoulder issues. Take notice.

Oh, and don't dick around now but with Jacob deGrom out for a mighty time, the Cy Young leader just may be…

And people give me heat for saying Wheeler has always been on his Cy Young shit this year. +400 in a super crowded field? Not the shabbiest of shots. So that means there's an actual possibility the Phillies take down the NL MVP and NL Cy Young awards…while still barely fighting to stay above .500??? Damn right. Sorry Fernando and Jacob, but you may fall victim to the two sweetest words in the English language:
