Forecaster Frank's Picks: Week 6
A strong week saw me go 10-5-1 in Week 5, taking my season record to 42-37-1 .531.
Thursday Night
TB -6.5 (o/u 52)
Buccaneers 31 Eagles 20
Expect to see a big game from Tom Brady as the Eagles defense, despite coming off a big game, has been unable to handle quarterbacks that can get the ball down the field.
Sunday in London
Jax +3.5 (o/u 47)
Jaguars 26 Dolphins 9
I thought we wanted to sell the NFL to Europe; sending these teams will only drive fans away from the game. Expect the Jaguars' 20-game losing streak to end as the Dolphins could be heading for a 20-game skid of their own.
LAC +3 (o/u 51.5)
Chargers 24 Ravens 20
The Baltimore Ravens are 4-1, but they can easily be 1-4 as they have won three games that could have easily been losses with comebacks against the Chiefs and Colts and a 66-yard field goal against the Lions. The Chargers are 4-1 and look like a legit contender; look for that trend to continue.
Car +1 (o/u 46)
Panthers 20 Vikings 16
The Carolina Panthers have stumbled in the last two weeks, losing to the Cowboys and the Eagles. The Eagles' loss was puzzling as they had the lead most of the game. Expect the Panthers to bound back as the Vikings have not been much better.
GB -4.5 (o/u 45)
Packers 27 Bears 16
Justin Fields gets his first taste of the rivalry as the Bears host the Packers at Soldier Field. Fields has played well as the Bears won the last two games. This one will be hard as the Packers playing well frustrate the rookie and take complete control of the NFC North.
Det +3.5 (o/u 47.5)
Lions 26 Bengals 17
The Lions could be the best 0-5 team in NFL history. They may be winless, but they are also the first team to lose two games on 50-yard field goals at the end of the game. Both scores were 19-17. Joe Burrow is dealing with a throat injury that could impact the Bengals and open the door for Detroit to win.
Hou +9.5 (o/u 43)
Colts 24 Texans 20
The Colts watched a 25-9 lead evaporate on Monday as they lost in overtime to the Ravens. The Colts should bounce back with a win, but it is hard to see them winning by ten points. The Texans had their moments last week against the Patriots, and these divisional games have their way of surprising.
LAR -10 (o/u 48)
Rams 31 Giants 3
The Rams would have likely had their way with a healthy Giants team. They face a Giants team that is banged up, with Saquon Barkley dealing with a sprained ankle and Daniel Jones recovering from a concussion. This one is going to be ugly.
Was +7 (o/u 55)
Chiefs 23 Washington 17
The Chiefs are struggling at 2-3 as they have had trouble holding on to the ball. Coming off a bad loss to the Bills, expect them to win, but it will be a struggle as the Football Team has a habit of staying in games the full 60 minutes.
Sunday Late Games
Cle -3 (o/u 49.5)
Browns 27 Cardinals 17
The Browns are coming off a frustrating loss to the Chargers, in which they lost on a terrible officiating call. The Cardinals meanwhile struggled but remained the only unbeaten team. This one is made for the Cardinals' first loss as the Browns get a nice win at home.
Den -4 (o/u 44.5)
Broncos 20 Raiders 13
Hard to believe these teams were both 3-0 at one point. After each has been exposed as frauds, the question is, who will bounce back? The Raiders are dealing with the fallout from Jon Gruden and are reeling in more than one way. Look for the Broncos' defense to be the difference as they get the win at Mile High.
Dal -3.5 (o/u 52)
Cowboys 38 Patriots 17
The Dallas Cowboys are starting to look like legitimate Super Bowl contenders as they have dominated in each of their last three games. The Patriots, meanwhile, are looking like a team that is far from making the playoffs as they narrowly beat the Texans last week. Expect the Pats to lose again, falling to 0-4 in Foxboro.
Sunday Night
Pitt -5 (o/u 42.5)
Steelers 27 Seahawks 10
The Seahawks are in big trouble. Sitting at 2-3, their defense has been bad, and now they will have to play without Russell Wilson, who is recovering from a hand injury. The Steelers have had their own issues but should win this one easily.
Monday Night
Buf -5.5 (o/u 54)
Bills 44 Titans 24
No team has been more impressive than the Buffalo Bills, as Josh Allen has played at an MVP level while their defense has been stout. Expect a big game from Allen in prime time as the Titans have a weak defense that will allow Buffalo to roam the field all night.
