Forecaster Frank's Picks: Week 8
Week 7 was agonizing and frustrating as I went 6-7, missing a few by one or two plays from a positive week. I am 52-54-1 on the season with a .491 percentage.
Thursday
Ari -6.5 (o/u 50.5)
Cardinals 31 Packers 16
The Cardinals once again face a strong team that is weakened as the Packers' entire receiving core is in COVID protocol. Had they been healthy, the Packers would have a tough time winning; instead, it will be an easy ride to 8-0 as 17-0 gets nearer.
Sunday at 1
Car +3 (o/u 46)
Panthers 24 Falcons 20
Remember when the Panthers were 3-0, Pepperidge Farm remembers. The Falcons wins have against the sorry Giants, the sorrier Jets, and the sorriest Dolphins. They are bound to lose again, as the Panthers remember how to win.
Buf -13.5 (o/u 49.5)
Bills 59 Dolphins 0
In Week 2, the Bills beat the Dolphins 35-0 in Miami. This one will be uglier. Prediction, the Dolphins have more penalty yards than offense. Prediction Tua gets hurt AGAIN. Prediction Myles Gaskins and the Dolphins rushing offense will not reach 20 yards. Prediction, the Dolphins will have more turnovers than first downs.
Chi +4 (o/u 39.5)
Bears 19 49ers 16
The Bears were embarrassed by Tom Brady and the Buccaneers in Tampa. Returning home, look for Justin Fields to have a much better performance as the Niners' confusion at quarterback continues.
Cle -3.5 (o/u 42)
Browns 24 Steelers 13
The Browns are hopeful that Baker Mayfield can play on Sunday as they host the Steelers. The Steelers are coming off a bye and coming off a pair of wins. This game will come down to defense and the Browns' ability to frustrate Ben Roethlisberger.
Det + 3.5 (o/u 48.5)
Lions 29 Eagles 13
The Lions might be 0-7, but they have not played that poorly. They have been a good cover team that has been moments from two or three wins. This is the week they get their first win.
LAR -14 (o/u 47.5)
Rams 37 Texans 6
Davis Mills will wish he could phone home as the Rams come into Houston and give the Texans a host of problems. This one will be ugly.
Ten -0.5 (o/u 50.5)
Titans 31 Colts 20
The Colts are coming off three wins and appear to have turned their season around. However, the Titans, after beating the Bills and dominating the Chiefs, are too strong and will win this game to all but seal the AFC South.
Cin -11 (o/u 42.5)
Bengals 34 Jets 10
The Jets have another quarterback conundrum as Zach Wilson is out and Joe Flacco is back. This one will not be for the faint of heart as the Bengals, after an impressive win in Baltimore, wins by 24.
Sunday Late Game
NE +6 (o/u 49)
Chargers 27 Patriots 24
The Patriots made a statement against the Jets last week as Mac Jones was allowed to move the ball up and down the field. At 3-4, their season is at a crossroad as they could be a serious contender with a win. The Chargers, however, will find a way to win the game as it will be decided by a field goal.
Jax +3.5 (o/u 43)
Jaguars 20 Seahawks 17
The Seahawks season is unraveling as the loss of Russell Wilson to a hand injury has ended their playoff hopes. Geno Smith always seems to find a way to lose, and it will happen again as Trevor Lawrence, with a boost of confidence, gets his second win.
Den -3 (o/u 43.5)
Broncos 15 Washington 11
This one has the potential to be ugly as the Broncos reeling at 3-4 look to get their first win in a month, while Washington continues to fumble away chances to win games. This one will be won by the turnovers, as there will be at least one defensive score.
NO +5 (o/u 50)
Saints 30 Buccaneers 27
The Saints have been a strange team this year, looking like Super Bowl contenders one week and losing to the Giants the next. The spirits will be in the air at the Superdome as the Saints get an upset win.
Sunday Night
Dal -1.5 (o/u 54.5)
Cowboys 37 Vikings 20
Playing on Sunday night, look for the Cowboys, who are coming off a bye week to be at the top of their game as they make mincemeat of the Purple People Eaters.
Monday Night
KC -9.5 (o/u 52)
Chiefs 38 Giants 15
This will be the get-healthy game that the Chiefs have been waiting for. The Giants coming off their best game of the season will be overwhelmed as the Chiefs get a big game from Patrick Mahomes and avoid the mistakes that have haunted them in the first seven weeks.
