In The Battle Of World Class Goalies, Which One Will Blink First?..And A Watch Party In Denver!!!

Murls Breakdown: 

NHL fans participated in a track meet last night and now have to reset their minds to what can be described as a marathon.  The goalies in this series are the storyline… in one corner we have a goalie who has been there, done that and basically just keeps doing it and in the other corner we have the young buck who has shown the world that he can in big games and make all the saves.

Vasy for Tampa is truly amazing but I am not talking about his stats per se, I am just amazed at how many games this dude has played over the last 3 years. He is creeping close to 200 games including playoffs, that is mind blowing and has been the best goalie in the NHL.  

Igor is another monster, who relies on fast hands and side to side movement that would have made him a terrific jazzercise instructor in the 80’s .. the kid can play and no stage seems too big.  He has locked it down in two game 7s and has his team playing for a trip to the cup. 

Each team has a different way to win and lose this series.  The Rangers must get in the face of Vasy, the Panthers fell for the rope a dope by taking shots from outside the dots and were dared by TB to beat him from distance. This does not work at all, the only way to get to this guy is to get traffic in front and battle in the dirty areas.  Tampa knows this and does a terrific job making it hard for teams to do it.  The Rangers PP is humming right now and penalties will come from extended O-zone time.  The Rangers also can not get sucked into the trap of thinking TB are on their heels and give up an odd man break.

For Tampa to get past the Rangers, they will need to be patient which they showed last series against Florida.  Tampa has supreme confidence in tight games and knows that their goalie will bail them out.  The Rangers have shown that they will make mistakes that give up breaks like they did in both series.. TB will wait for this and pounce. They won't have Brayden Point tonight, but possibly later in the series.

I am so excited to see the matchups that the coaches try to get tonight. Does Hedman get on the ice against Kreider? Does Trouba play against Stamkos and who will win the argument for this season!!
