Two Picks, Two Wins To Start The College Football Season. Now Lets Get Another

Great to start the season out with a few wins after another one in Michigan State -21 gets it done last night against Western Michigan. A big college football card on deck, lets get it. 

Is Texas back? Well they might be. On paper, they have one of the most talented offensive rosters in the country. With the best running back in the country in Bijan Robinson and one of the best WR's in Xavier Worthy plus a high level five star QB in Quinn Ewers, sky's the limit. Considering he's the highest rated recruit Texas has had since Vince Young in the early 2000's. This offense is star studded and should remain a top 20 offense this year if not higher. Against a lowly UL Monroe defense I don't see any issues moving the ball. ULM is gonna have all kinds of trouble getting any stops here with a limited group who was 125th in passing defense last season. They got absolutely no pass rush upfront and just lack talent on that end. Texas should hit 50+ here. 

This much maligned Texas defense will be improved. They weren't all that bad against the pass last year and they added Ohio State transfer CB Ryan Watts. The problem was against the run giving up over 5 yards a carry. They need to get tougher on the defensive line and this year there's reason for optimism with big Keondre Coburn back at nose tackle and a really good group of linebackers. The good thing here is like Rice last year, a game in which Texas won 58-0, ULM won't cause much problem. The Warhawks, coached by Terry Bowden were also one of the worst offenses in the country last year scoring just 21 points a game. They have limited talent at QB and very few weapons. QB Chandler Rogers does have some dual threat ability, but with plenty of time to focus on their opponent in the first game here Texas will be ready. In camp at a press conference Texas coach Steve Sarkisian claimed the defense was playing with "fanatical effort." Former TCU head coach Gary Patterson should play a big role in the improvement of this defense as a new assistant to the head coach.

Texas was very good last year at home, scoring 24.5 points per game in the first half. They should have no trouble with a bad team here and be up big. This is a great number. Feels like a 31-0 type of score! I am laying the 23.5 here in the first half as the Longhorns open up the season with a quick start and a blowout. Keep in mind they have Alabama on deck and while I feel like they have no issue either way I think early is the time to back this team.
