The Titans Are Gonna Shock The World Tonight

The NFL has blessed us with a Monday Night Double Header in Week 2 and both matchups are solid on paper. Let's break them down and make some picks on the Barstool Sportsbook.

Tennessee at Buffalo (-10, 47.5) 7:15PM ET

Buffalo DESTROYED the defending Super Bowl Champion Rams on the road last Thu night 31-10. After struggling in the 1st half with 3 turnovers in a 10-10 tie, the Bills wiped the Rams out completely in the 2nd half. The Bills are the prohibitive favorites to win both the AFC and Super Bowl behind QB Josh Allen. They also will have a rowdy home field edge to say the least tonight with Bills Mafia.

So why on earth am I picking the Tennessee Titans to pull off the upset?!?!?

The Titans fell 21-20 at home as a 5.5 point favorite to the New York Giants in Week 1. They also have to replace star WR AJ Brown this season which is not easy. However, winning outright as a big underdog is what Mike Vrabel's team has been all about since Ryan Tannehill replaced Marcus Mariota at QB in 2019. The Titans play up & down to their competition struggling as a favorite and raising hell as underdogs. In 2021 they were a whopping 6-2 as dogs.

That's a good thing because they are catching a full 10 points tonight and are +335 on the Money Line on the Barstool Sportsbook. Tennessee beat Buffalo each of the last seasons in night games (42-25 on Tue Night in 2020 and 34-31 MNF 2021). It has happened twice before. I also think Buffalo potentially could miss emerging WR Gabe Davis a lot tonight if he is ruled out. Then the Titans will be able to focus more on stopping Stefan Diggs.

Tennessee must get up early in this game and stay balanced with Derrick Henry running the ball and Tannehill play action to have a chance. If they get down 2 scores early they are dead meat. But I am banking on a solid game plan from Vrabel and the Titans being ready. Look for some long drives behind Derrick Henry's legs to shorten the game.

Somehow, Tennessee finds a way to pull this upset off…..

Minnesota at Philadelphia (-2.5, 49.5) 8:30PM ET

This is a battle of 1-0 teams and another exciting matchup. The Vikings looked dominant in 23-7 win over Green Bay last week at home with Justin Jefferson going off for 184 yards. The defense completely shut Aaron Rodgers down too.

The Eagles won in Detroit 38-35 but controlled most of the game despite allowing the Lions to backdoor cover. New Star WR AJ Brown looked great with 10 catches for 155 yards.

I lean Philly at home tonight for a few reasons. It is well documented that Kirk Cousins struggles in Prime Time night games with a 2-9 record. I also think the Vikings are not quite the same team away from their Dome. Their passing game and explosiveness are not quite the same on the road.

Philly led the NFL in rushing last season and I look for the Eagles to pound the rock tonight to control the tempo of the game. The last thing they want do is have Jalen Hurts drop back 35-40 times. The crazy Philly fans started tailgating early this morning and The Linc will be LOUD.

The Eagles ride the running game and home crowd to a 2-0 start.
