Herm Edwards Is Shocked By The Whole Recruiting Thing In College Football
Herm Edwards has had quite the ride as Arizona State’s head coach. From being surprised that Arizona State’s mascot is a Sun Devil:
To not knowing about how small/tight current football jerseys are:
Herm’s dive into college football has been nothing but entertaining and only continues to get better:
Football Scoop-“I basically came in here and set up a pro model of how we’re going to go about evaluating players. But the evaluation is the key here in college football. It’s not like in pro football. In pro football, it’s interesting because when you win, you draft last but in college football you recruit. You have to go after guys.”
“It’s, I’ll tell you what now, you’re not only recruiting kids, sometimes you’re trying to recruit the parent too. That’s what’s amazing. You have to stay in contact with these kids.”
Talking to the legal guardian of the kid you are trying to convince to come to your school…who would’ve thought? That person who carried around the kid you are recruiting for nine months in her belly having a say in where he goes to college is just another example of millennials ruining this country. What’s next, mommy comes with you to college, amiright Herm?
“I’m calling these kids all the time, making visits, I’m all over the place and you’re asking an 18-year-old kid to come to your university and a lot of these kids have no idea why they’re going to go to your university. They don’t know. They want to be recruited. They want to know how many people are coming to their house, how many head coaches are calling them. It’s an amazing deal.”
Herm Edward’s is a meme. That’s what he is. There is no other way to look at him as a college football coach and that is fine, because college football is a well-oiled machine that always needs a coach as a meme. You see, as soon as a meme goes out, a new one comes in. Look at Butch Jones, we lost that champion of life this offseason and what do we get? That’s right, Herm Edwards:
This is just the start. The season hasn’t even started. His first recruiting cycle isn’t even over. Thank god for America and thank god for Arizona State Head Football Coach Herm Edwards.
