*No video this week brothers, I wanted to get this out to you early, and also let you know I will be at Rock and Reilly’s Irish Rock Pub at 218 W. 35th Street in New York this afternoon beginning around 4pm watching games, talking sports, gambling, whatever you want. Come on by to Rock and Reilly’s grab some drinks and food and let’s get after it.
What’s happening brothers? It’s another Friday, it’s raining, it’s windy, some of you are dealing with snow and crippling conditions. It’s tough out there today. Some people crawl back in their turtle shells and hide from conditions like this. But then again, some people just aren’t made to be winners. This team though, this team isn’t slowed down by some rain, some wind, some snow, no, no, no. When the conditions around us get tough, it emboldens us. When things look bleak, we put our heads down and we get to work. We chase those wins all over. Through the wind, through the snow, through the rain, we fight for what is ours, and what is ours, brothers, is the glory that comes with winning. So without further adieu, lets get to our WINNERS presented by our great friends at Oddsshark. Make sure you check out Oddsshark for all your questions and information on literally every game on the board in major sports, college games, soccer, they’ve got all of it. They can give you computer projections, articles, and a fantastic matchup page for each game that is unrivaled anywhere on the internet.
WINNERS:
Charlotte Hornets at Philadelphia 76’ers (Phi -4, Total 214)–This one seems pretty easy to me. Philadelphia is the number two team in the NBA in first quarter scoring at home. They put up 29.4 points per game in the opening frame. Further they lead the entire league in first quarter average margin at +5.5 a game. Charlotte had a little winning streak going until Boston took them to task. Philly has been an outstanding bet to open games at home this season, I think this one is pretty simple, I love the Sixers in this spot, I don’t trust the Hornets very much. THE PICK: PHILLY FIRST QUARTER -1.
Detroit Red Wings at Winnipeg Jets (WPG -230, Total 5.5)–This is very similar to the game Vegas has happening tonight against the Senators. Winnipeg lost their last outing at home to Nashville, in a hard fought, tooth and nail type game, 6-5. The Jets are a great home team, going 23-7 on the season at the MTS Centre. They also can be explosive offensively, scoring at least four goals in four of their last five games. Their trade deadline addition from St. Louis, Paul Stastny, had an outstanding debut, and should be even more comfortable in tonight’s contest. The Red Wings on the other hand, have waived a white flag on the season. They traded Tomas Tatar for nothing but draft picks, and said they would have moved Mike Green if not for his injury at the time of the deadline. While the team has been competitive on the ice, they are walking straight into a buzzsaw in Winnipeg tonight. The Jets take out their frustrations about the Nashville game tonight on the Red Wings. THE PICK: WINNIPEG JETS PUCK LINE (+130).
Indiana State v. Illinois State (ILS-1.5, Total 144)–Lets get after some Arch Madness tonight in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship tournament. Quarterfinal matchup tonight between the Sycamores of Indiana State and the Illinois State Redbirds. The teams split the regular season series with each team defending their home court. This isn’t the sexiest matchup on the card, but I think we’ve got some solid value here. The Sycamores score 72.6 points per game and surrender 72.5 a contest. They are led by Jordan Barnes who scores 17.2 points a game. An issue for Indiana State is after their starting five, nobody averages even four points a night. Their depth is lacking. Illinois State is slightly more well balanced. Milik Yarborough averages 16/6/5 a game for the Redbirds and is the best player on the court for either team. I think the Sycamores will struggle with Illinois State’s length, the Redbirds are also the better defensive team. THE PICK: ILLINOIS STATE -1.5
Ottawa Senators at Vegas Golden Knights (VGK -260, Total 6)–This is a rare spot for our Vegas Golden Knights, brothers. The Knights have dropped two games in a row, including one at home, both to the LA Kings. In the second of those two games Los Angeles pretty much controlled the game from the jump. It was not a typical Vegas effort. Tonight is the perfect get right spot for our Sin City boys. The Senators have been a poor team all season, and the road has been no friend to the Sens, as they have fared 7-18 away from the Canadian capital. Vegas has had a few days to integrate new additions Ryan Reaves and Tomas Tatar. I expect to see a fiery, angry Vegas team looking to get back on the winning side of things. THE PICK: VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS PUCK LINE (+110).
